For Sale: 1963 Vespa Allstate Frame (project)

1963_vespa_allstate_05I’m selling off one of the projects in the garage… A 1963 Sears Vespa Allstate frame. This was one of the first scooters I owned and I had big plans for it (someday, right?)… It’s been stripped, straightened and painted, so the tedious restoration work is done.

The body was disassembled and taken down to bare metal for rust repair and bodywork. Most of the work was completed by a local body shop, but there are some rough spots. This frame will make a great scooter, but it’s not a concourse restoration by any stretch – and, it’s an Allstate.

The entire frame was sealed against rust and painted in a 2006 VW New Beetle Blue. It’s a powder/pale blue shade, and it was the closest to a vintage color that the painter was willing to spray. The finish is nice, but not perfect.

The frame is being sold with a bill of sale. I do not have a title for this scooter.

The frame is located near Sacramento, California. I will not ship, you can pick the frame up in person or I may be willing to arrange delivery with 100 miles for an additional cost.

If you would like to see additional photos, I may have time to shoot specific shots over the next couple of days.

What’s Included:

  • Frame
  • Headset & controls (no speedo, no levers)
  • Light/horn switch
  • Front Fender
  • Fuel Tank
  • Engine-Side Cowl
  • Glovebox Cowl & Door
  • Aftermarket Tail Light assembly
  • Brake Pedal
  • Original wiring harness

  • Bill of Sale

What’s Not Included:

  • No engine
  • No speedometer
  • No wheels/tires
  • Title

It’s just the frame for what could be a great scooter…

The Good:

  • All of the body pieces are there.
  • The finish is mostly perfect, aside from the few spots shown in the photos.
  • The fuel tank has been cleaned and coated.
  • The engine cowl fins are all straight!
  • The selector cable outers are installed and included (sorry, no cables)

The Bad:

  • The painter took some liberties with the undercoat and sprayed the top of the floorboards and the inside of the legshield. It looks a bit rough in the photos, but it’s just undercoat that’s been painted over…
  • The under side of the floorboards was rusted in several spots. A piece of sheet metal has been welded to the bottom of the floorboard to add strength and seal the underside of the frame.
  • A small notch was cut in the neck of the headset at some point, and was not repaired before it was painted.
  • The area surrounding the horn was not given the proper attention when the body work was done. A stock horn fits the space, but new holes need to be drilled to mount the horn.
  • The tail light shown is obviously not correct. The original is missing and will not be included.

Please take a close look at the photos for a better idea of the condition of this frame.
